Exam Fever:
Exam fever is one fever where we see most people’s adrenalin soaring in such a way that it results in eating voraciously or completely abstaining from eating. The nutrition during exams usually goes for a toss, when it actually needs more consideration. Here are a few tips to sustain nutrition during exams.
Teens are found famished anytime on the clock during exams. Small, frequent meals come handy. This would keep up the energy levels and blood glucose steady. A steady and timely supply of glucose to the brain acts as its best fuel. Having small, frequent meals of course doesn’t necessarily mean snacking all the time. A real meal at appropriate time keeps you more rejuvenated.
Protein-rich snacks and meals keep you alert. On the other hand, only carbohydrates make you doze off and when you wake up would want to eat more of them. Prefer cornflakes, oats, other breakfast cereals with milk and fruits; idli, dosa, or uttapam with sambar; chana chat; sprouts bhel; vegetable sandwich with some paneer; high protein nutrition bars rather than opting for bread butter jam, candies, chocolates, sweets, desserts and other junks.
Traditionally, tea and coffee are legendaries teens harp on for vegetable, bean, pulse-based soup, glass of tender coconut water, lemon barley water, buttermilk, milk or even milkshake. Abstinence from carbonated beverages, sugary syrup-rich sherbets would make sure undesirable calories do not block your way.
Prefer not to watch TV during the study breaks. The food-commercial might make you rush to the kitchen for unwelcome calories!
The next time the exam fever strikes you, just say, “ALL IS WELL as nutrition is well!!!”
