Nokia N97 Review:
Nokia has launched a new device N97 to compete with all other smart phones in the market like iphone, Blackberry, HTC smart phones etc. The Phone promises to provide 3.5- ich touch screen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, triband HSPA, 5-megapixel camera, hardware keyboard and 32GB of standard storage, which is common
among the smart phones these days and lets review the whether it stands up to the remark.
To the good of Nokia N97, the design of N97 is relatively moderate with very good build-quality, matte-finish plastics are tough but surprisingly weight-less, and the axis point is with comfort and strong to use.N97 provides a standardized connectors like mini-USB, 3.5mm headphone jack and micro SD which will purposeful for all those change their devices frequently. As we except from the Nokia, the call performance is good with the full-bodied earpiece and well balanced microphone meaning that those on each end of the call have a decent audio experience. The speakerphone is clear in voice but no the loudest.
N97 provides a firm 3Gsignal and speedy browsing speeds using any reputed network, you will never find any connectivity problem. Battery life is also decent, though you’d expect nothing less from a 1,500mAh Li-Lon pack. It is capable of lasting for couple of days with a moderate use.
With all the all the features being implied but the end result is disappointing. The hard rubber keys themselves are very tactile, but their singular lack of travel drains away both accuracy and appeal. Usually having made such a big deal of the text-entry options, N97 don’t really give much opportunity to use them out of the box. The home page widget has Face book client and support for messaging, but there is no IM client and no threaded SMS or MMS. The home screen widget shows real-time updates rather than just acting as a shortcut and the face book app works well, but the Ovi download store is unfruitful.
The camera falls a little short of Nokia’s more photography-centric devices, though it offers fine 5-megapixels, autofocus and an LED flash. The LED flash is certainly sufficient for taking outdoor shots. Additionally Video recording is also possible with standard 640 x 480 VGA resolution, but quality falls short when compared with iphone 3GS. Only advantage in video recording is that it got capacious memory to store plenty of footage. It has got fine Bluetooth, mp3, WMA for audio files (MPEG4 or 3GP video files are supportable), USB 2.0 connection. The 5th edition of S6 disappointing when compared with iphone or palm’s webOS with less visual gloss and the touch enabling is not fair enough. It has got decent LCD panel with high resolution.
Despite the multimedia features is on the offer, unfortunately the usability issues like less than ordinary touch functionality and lackluster QWERTY keyboard are just a annoying factor for the business users. Eventhough the performance of the phone applies, the Nokia N97 remains a less preferable to the other smart phones.
